When we launched our “God bless the U.S. armed forces” campaign we adopted the soldiers at Fort Drum in New York. By partnering with them we are able to show our support for the brave men and women who are fighting for our country.
Located in northern New York, Fort Drum has been used as a military training site since 1908. However, the Army’s presence can be traced back to the 1800s when infantry soldiers were placed there to control smuggling between New York and Canada. In 1908 Brigadier General Frederick Dent Grant, son of General Ulysses S. Grant, was sent to the area to train troops. Since it was such an ideal place for training, money was allocated to purchase the land and training continues to this day.
Today, Fort Drum encompasses 107,265 acres of land and provides planning and support for the mobilization and training of approximately 80,000 troops annually.
