DAILY CALLER: DAVID BOSSIE: Trump’s Foreign Policy Is A Game Changer For The World
As the 40th anniversary of the first summit between President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Union General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev in Geneva, Switzerland approaches, history is repeating itself. Over the course of just a few days, President Donald Trump held a high stakes summit with Russian Dictator Vladimir Putin and then spearheaded an unprecedented meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders in hopes of negotiating a peaceful conclusion to Putin’s brutal three-year war in Ukraine.
President Trump, like Reagan before him, traveled to Alaska to deal with Moscow’s thuggish behavior from a position of peace through strength. Trump campaigned on this critically important foreign policy change and now he’s delivering on the promise —and the world is witnessing it in action. Make no mistake about it, not only is President Trump confronting the failed status quo at home, but he’s also challenging the globalist establishment on international norms in the name of peace. And this abrupt 180 degree turn in American leadership since the momentous 2024 election is making an enormous difference.
Putin agreed to meet with Trump on American soil to negotiate the end of his bloody war for the same reason he didn’t launch an invasion on Trump’s watch during his first term: respect. Simply stated, Putin knows Trump means business and realizes he’ll never back down when the security of America is on the line. The stark contrast on display between this president and presidents before him — when Putin saw no deterrent to his aggression — could not be clearer.
With the summit in Anchorage, President Trump once again moved the ball toward peace – and the extraordinary meeting with Zelensky and European leaders is a further step in the right direction. Now, it’s up to Putin and Zelensky to sit down to discuss details in order to stop the killing – and the world will be watching.
During his first seven months in office, Donald Trump is literally re-writing the book on foreign policy before our eyes. Not only is President Trump actively seeking – and successfully achieving – peace between warring nations in every corner of the globe, he’s doing so while demonstrating in no uncertain terms that he’ll use lethal force against bad actors without hesitation. The steady stream of peace deals that the president has brokered during the opening months of his administration between Cambodia and Thailand, India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, and Serbia and Kosovo just to name a few, are creating a ripple effect of hope around the world.
Donald Trump, the epitome of success, prestige, and prosperity, is approaching world leaders — come one, come all — with an optimistic message that says the promise of hope, growth, and opportunity for all is not reserved for just Americans. President Trump is coming to the table — on live television — to talk about how the United States can help foreign heads of state deliver a more hopeful and prosperous future for their citizens. And with his innovative fair trade-tariff-negotiation strategy, this president is not only putting America first but creating win-win situations for all involved.
Meanwhile, this once in a lifetime president is on offense dealing with various festering problems around the globe. Since January, he’s pummeled Houthi terrorists; he’s standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel in their war against Hamas terrorists, and he’s bombed the Iranian nuclear program into oblivion. Not to mention, through his bold leadership, Trump is making it clear that it’s “High Noon” for international terrorists and criminals who have illegally entered the United States or are attempting to penetrate our country for nefarious purposes.
So, Vladimir Putin is paying full attention and is seeing the need to negotiate. What he’s witnessing in Donald Trump both diplomatically and militarily is unparalleled, and his default strong man playbook is no longer a viable option. This isn’t Joe Biden or Barack Obama he’s dealing with — Trump is a different kind of leader who wants peace but is also willing to use the big stick when necessary. There’s absolutely no doubt that if economic sanctions are put in place against Russia, they will be ferocious.
President Trump is right when he says the only reason Putin isn’t already moving forward to take all of Ukraine is because he inconveniently “got in the way” with his historic re-election. Indeed, the return of Trump to the world stage has forced the Russians to think twice about their naked aggression. The fact that even arch-nemesis Hillary Clinton is making public statements about nominating the president for a Nobel Peace Prize if he can broker a lasting peace deal between Putin and Zelensky shows that Trump is making real progress with a highly complex situation. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and President Trump is demonstrating that he’s the game-changer the world needs right now to achieve peace.
