Des Moines Register: Three former GOP presidential candidates will speak in Iowa Saturday

Three former presidential candidates – Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum – will speak in Iowa on Saturday at an event sponsored by a religious conservative organization.

The Family Leader today added Perry to the speakers’ lineup at the leadership summit at Point of Grace Church, at 305 NE Dartmoor Drive in Waukee.

The three Republicans will “cast their leadership vision for advancing conservative principles,” the Family Leader’s Bob Vander Plaats said in a news release.

Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, won the GOP caucuses in 2008. Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, won the 2012 caucuses. Perry, the governor of Texas, finished fifth the in caucuses.

All three have endorsed Mitt Romney, whose nomination as the GOP presidential candidate is expected to be wrapped up at the Republican National Convention in late August.

Saturday’s event is sponsored by the Family Leader, the National Organization for Marriage, ActRight and Citizens United.

Also speaking are Joel C. Rosenberg, Laurence White, U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, and U.S. Rep. Steve King.
