WASHINGTON TIMES: DAVID BOSSIE: Trump’s leadership fuels America’s economic resurgence

Under President Trump’s dynamic leadership, the state of our union is strong once again and is gaining vibrancy with each passing day. Make no mistake: As the incompetence, weakness and economic stagnation of the Biden-Harris regime get further and further in the rearview mirror, it’s good news for the American people. For the next three years, Mr. Trump will continue to focus like a laser beam on enacting pro-growth economic policies that benefit everyone, regardless of background.

As the president says, America is the hottest country in the world, but this progress can be turned off like a light switch if Democrats and their political allies in the mainstream media get their way.

Right now, the left is doing its best to whitewash the hell the country was forced to endure thanks to a pathetic Democratic president and a radicalized Democratic-controlled Congress. In rapid succession, Joseph R. Biden, Kamala Harris and their congressional cronies created an inflation crisis, an illegal immigration crisis, a Green New Scam regulatory crisis, an affordability crisis and a gas price crisis, while always keeping the specter of massive across-the-board tax increases front and center in everyone’s mind.

The indefatigable Mr. Trump has done an incredible job securing the border, and this is a perfect example of the core competency that was missing in the Oval Office under his predecessor. Identifying a problem, fixing it in short order and moving on to the next challenge is what Mr. Trump is all about. In fact, Mr. Trump solved Mr. Biden’s border invasion so quickly that illegal immigration isn’t a top issue for Americans this election cycle for the first time in years. The same goes for this president’s peace-through-strength foreign policy, where our commander in chief is exercising game-changing leadership across every corner of the globe, whether in Venezuela, Iran, Ukraine or China.

The stark contrast in governing style between Mr. Trump, the change agent, and recent Democratic presidents such as Barack Obama and Mr. Biden — where generational problems persisted and never got better despite big promises, beautiful marketing campaigns, and deceitfully named laws such as the fraudulent Inflation Reduction Act and the failed Affordable Care Act — is unmistakable.

Although many Americans are still concerned about the cost of living, they should be grateful that a tireless president is in office at this moment, along with a Republican majority in Congress that is listening to those voices and taking bold action to further supercharge our economy and drive down prices. Let’s recall that when inflation spiked under Mr. Biden, Democrats chose to pass a climate change bill rather than address the problem.

So, it’s imperative that Americans bypass the Trump-hating left-wing media to find out for themselves about all the consistently positive economic news that’s coming out.

First and foremost, the unemployment rate fell to 4.3% last month, and 130,000 jobs were created. Moreover, private sector job growth is up, and government jobs are shrinking, precisely the numbers a healthy economy should reflect. Perhaps most important, inflation, although not completely gone as it was during Mr. Trump’s first term, continues to decline and now stands at just 2.4% after reaching 9% because of the disastrous policies of Mr. Biden, Senate Democratic leader Charles E. Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Additionally, real wages are up under Mr. Trump after falling under Mr. Biden, gas prices are down, the Dow Jones crossed the 50,000 threshold for the first time ever, mortgage interest rates are the lowest in years, and the average Internal Revenue Service refund is 11% higher so far this tax season.

Some call it the Trump effect; others see it as a return to smart, sound economic policy. Whatever the case may be, Mr. Trump will always be a businessman and entrepreneur at heart who knows what it takes to get job creation and economic prosperity clicking.

Americans must be fully cognizant of the failed alternative Democrats are offering and understand that nothing has changed in their platform since the Biden-Harris disaster.

The standard perception of the supposed benefits of a divided government no longer holds when the party out of power hates the duly elected president more than it loves its country. Simply stated, having New York Democrats Hakeem Jeffries as House speaker and Mr. Schumer as Senate majority leader would gridlock the country completely for the final two years of Mr. Trump’s term and give New York City’s socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, way too much influence in Washington.

The bottom line is that the state of the union would suffer if one or both Houses of Congress change hands after the midterm elections.

Much to the detriment of our great nation, there would be no compromises on affordability or health care because Democratic obstructionists who suffer from Trump derangement syndrome have proved time and time again that they aren’t capable of negotiating in good faith. Sadly, the only thing a Democratic majority would focus on is more political witch hunts and yet another phony impeachment debacle — in other words, wasting valuable time when our country can least afford it.

In just over 13 months, we have gone from suffering through one of the worst presidencies in history to the best president of our lifetimes. Under the leadership of Mr. Trump, America is once again focused on peace and prosperity instead of weakness and malaise. The optimistic feeling that our best days are yet to come is back in the air.
